I have completed this book but only after a struggle。 I feel like his guidance isn’t really new or anything I do not already know from reading other books。 The way it was packaged into a rocket-scientist theme was likely the selling point。 The NASA examples have been integrated into other books focused on thinking more clearly。

The worst book I read。 Deceiving!

The first part of the book appeared somewhat too obvious for someone who was trained as a scientist。 However, the later chapters were really interesting with lots of historical analogies and examples coming from the space industry。

Lot of different insights that can help to boost critical thinking and being more curios and positive。Reminded me to think more on the inputs of the outcome in order to think back more objectively。Lot of references to Elon Musk :D

A book that truly challenges established thinking。 Ozan's unique personal and professional background make this quite an amusing and original work。 Even though the author constantly turns to some of the best thinkers of our time, I found most of these quotes somewhat basic and certainly saturating。 I also think that while he does offer useful strategies on the go, he fails to expand on several of the exciting insights he sets before each chapter。Even so, It is surely a rewarding and enjoyable jo A book that truly challenges established thinking。 Ozan's unique personal and professional background make this quite an amusing and original work。 Even though the author constantly turns to some of the best thinkers of our time, I found most of these quotes somewhat basic and certainly saturating。 I also think that while he does offer useful strategies on the go, he fails to expand on several of the exciting insights he sets before each chapter。Even so, It is surely a rewarding and enjoyable journey through a rocket scientist's lens, especially for space enthusiasts and for people with little-to-no knowledge on the subject。 。。。more

People who like these sort of business books will probably enjoy this one too。 The ideas aren't bad, but the writing style was off-putting because of all the jargon, repetition, and oversimplified examples, so this was a bit of a slog to get through。 I'm not sure I could have taken one more sentence of praise for Elon Musk。It's the type of book that can be easily summed up。 Here's a Cliff's notes version of main ideas:Ch 1: Don't let ego make you cling to something that may not be truech 2: Bewa People who like these sort of business books will probably enjoy this one too。 The ideas aren't bad, but the writing style was off-putting because of all the jargon, repetition, and oversimplified examples, so this was a bit of a slog to get through。 I'm not sure I could have taken one more sentence of praise for Elon Musk。It's the type of book that can be easily summed up。 Here's a Cliff's notes version of main ideas:Ch 1: Don't let ego make you cling to something that may not be truech 2: Beware the status quoch 3: Get bored and ask questionsch 4: Dream big and then figure out how to make it workch 5: Don't get distracted by simple questions - ask a new questionch 6: Seek out facts to disprove your hypothesisch 7: Test with worst case scenario in mindch 8: Failure is only good if you learn from itch 9: When you succeed, pay attention just as much to what went wrong as what went right 。。。more

在沉迷酒精和阿瓦隆的间隙读完单身汉比尔盖茨推荐的鸡汤,作者本身并不是Rocket scientist,感觉更像是先有框架然后找NASA和SPACE X的故事硬凑进去,但其中一些NASA的细节还是很迷人,test as you fly, fly as you test

dnf @ chp 3 (~27%) maybe I've just read too many self-help books but I found this book pretty uninspiring。 only thing I learned was that the reason NASA spent billions to develop a pen which worked in space rather than Russians who used a pencil (that famous meme) was because pencil tips break easily which can get lodged in space equipment / fly into astronaut's eyes in space which is extremely dangerous。 may revisit one day。 dnf @ chp 3 (~27%) maybe I've just read too many self-help books but I found this book pretty uninspiring。 only thing I learned was that the reason NASA spent billions to develop a pen which worked in space rather than Russians who used a pencil (that famous meme) was because pencil tips break easily which can get lodged in space equipment / fly into astronaut's eyes in space which is extremely dangerous。 may revisit one day。 。。。more

What a nicely balanced book。 It has a surprisingly uncertain tone for the personal growth genre, yet it is still very accessible as an everywoman, does not drown in impossible goldilocks standards。 It manages to sidestep any hero worship and is willing to look at the systems behind yet it still emphasizes individual mindsets that make that culture, those systems。 Information may not be groundbreaking to all, you may find yourself nodding along a lot but it is still worth an exercise of applying What a nicely balanced book。 It has a surprisingly uncertain tone for the personal growth genre, yet it is still very accessible as an everywoman, does not drown in impossible goldilocks standards。 It manages to sidestep any hero worship and is willing to look at the systems behind yet it still emphasizes individual mindsets that make that culture, those systems。 Information may not be groundbreaking to all, you may find yourself nodding along a lot but it is still worth an exercise of applying this 'grandma wisdom' to your reality now。 You probably forgot what you knew about what made you get here and maybe something you were so stuck about is much simpler than you thought。I got a lot of this book probably due to where I am at life right now, but I imagine this is not a book that would offend anyone even if you don't see the strategies apply to you。 。。。more

Great book! Managed to be both an insightful business development book (covering a range of topics such as idea generation, how to test ideas, how to learn from failure and how to avoid complacency once successful) and an entertaining read thanks to giving great accounts of the space industry。 It's written in a humourus way, which helps captivate attention。 Great book! The book skims through various methods that can improve any operation。 For the general audience - a good read。 A bit too many references to Elon Musk for my liking, but given the book’s angle, it’s understandable。

Great book with a nice lay out, not to technical but uses enough examples and comparisons to validate his points。 It's quite a nice an easy read but I do feel it bring values。 Reminded me of why getting a science degree before an MBA is smart。 Great book with a nice lay out, not to technical but uses enough examples and comparisons to validate his points。 It's quite a nice an easy read but I do feel it bring values。 Reminded me of why getting a science degree before an MBA is smart。 。。。more

I am generally not very interested in self help nor am I overly intrigued by rocket science。 Nonetheless, I am finding this book to be one of my favorites。 Instead of prescribing specific self help strategies, he discusses broad topics such as embracing boredom and polymathy。 I highly recommend。

Fascinating book by an author who really is a rocket scientist。 He is also a lawyer, a professor, and an author。 He worked for NASA on the 2003 Mars Rover project。 In this book Varol talks about how to think like a rocket scientist, which involves looking at situations differently than you might otherwise。 Asking different questions, and looking at different approaches to solving problems in both your personal and business environments。 Varol uses numerous examples from real life to explain how Fascinating book by an author who really is a rocket scientist。 He is also a lawyer, a professor, and an author。 He worked for NASA on the 2003 Mars Rover project。 In this book Varol talks about how to think like a rocket scientist, which involves looking at situations differently than you might otherwise。 Asking different questions, and looking at different approaches to solving problems in both your personal and business environments。 Varol uses numerous examples from real life to explain how to think like a rocket scientist in a clear and easy to understand manner。 Excellent read。 。。。more

Very interesting read wherein a rocket scientist Ozan gives actual examples from rocket launches to help us think our own approach。 He builds the book in 3 buckets - launch, accelerate, achieve。 To me the launch bit was the most interesting。 Also, from other reviews realised that he has a pdf workbook, which I plan to use to rethink my own approach。Excellent read though highly recommend that one uses the book and pdf workbook side by side rather than later。

Fun read that describes many approaches and methods of thought for creative innovation (embracing uncertainty, first principles thinking, postmortems and premortems, test as you fly + fly as you test, red teaming / killing the company exercise, taking moonshots, backcasting, "act like you're #2" and much more)。 It primarily takes examples from rocket science, but also broader technology, business and other fields。While there is nothing particularly novel here (I was familiar with most concepts d Fun read that describes many approaches and methods of thought for creative innovation (embracing uncertainty, first principles thinking, postmortems and premortems, test as you fly + fly as you test, red teaming / killing the company exercise, taking moonshots, backcasting, "act like you're #2" and much more)。 It primarily takes examples from rocket science, but also broader technology, business and other fields。While there is nothing particularly novel here (I was familiar with most concepts described in the book, as well as most historical examples used), it's a very enjoyable read with colorful spaceflight stories, and a great refresher on the myriad of concepts it describes。 。。。more

Best “Business” Book I’ve Ever ReadBest book about operating in a business context I’ve ever read。 I’ve never wanted to share excerpts form a book more with members of my team across all responsibilities and stages。 I wish Amazon made it easy for me to cut and past text as a prompt。 I’ve instead settled on buying the book for people if necessary。
